Lathe PD
230/E
Quality you can see and
touch.
The PD 230/E is designed for people who appreciate quality.
However, to use this lathe does not mean you need to be a
professional turner. The handbook is detailed and easy to
understand. The lathe runs quietly and is small and light enough to
be packed away after each usage. The center height and the distance
between centers are sufficient for a multitude of tasks.
The machine is usable on materials such as plastic, steel, brass
and aluminum and comes complete with automatic feed, thread cutting
capability, headstock chuck, live center and top slide for taper
turning. It may be used to part, turn and cut tapers. The numerous
optional accessories add the versatility you need to complete all
your miniature projects.

Incl. 3-jaw chuck, 5/64" - 2 43/64" (2 - 68mm)
capacity.
Top slide for taper turning and the tool holder are
included as standard.
MT 1 (short) live center included as standard.
Cast iron bed with ground prism for tool rest and
tailstock ensures minimal deflection, even at high loads.
Enclosed leading screw for automatic feed of .002" or
.004" revolution (0.05 or 0.1mm).
Combination of three speeds (attained by swapping drive
belt position) and additional electronic speed control allowing
speeds from 100 to 3,000rpm.
Technical data:
Center distance of 9" (230mm), center height 2 13/64" (52mm), swing
4 3/32" (104mm). Height over cross slide 1 7/64" (28mm). Cross
slide travel 2 23/64" (60mm) and top slide 1 13/16" (45mm). Tool
holder accepts 5/16" x 5/16" (8 x 8 mm) cutters. The MT 1 (short)
spindle has a bore of 13/32" (10.5 mm). It runs in precision ball
bearings, yielding an accuracy of .0004" (0.01 mm) without chuck.
The thread cutting capability covers the most important pitches of
.02", .25", .028", .03", .031", .04", .05", .06" (0.5, 0.625, 0.7,
0.75, 0.8, 1.0, 1.25 and 1.5mm). The lathe PD 230/E also offers you
the possibility to cut inch system based threads. It is possible to
turn the most required thread diameters with thread pitches from 16
up to 64 T.P.I (threads per inch). Spindle speeds are changed by
means of a belt and offer 300, 900 and 3,000rpm. The electronic
speed control extends the speed range down to 100rpm, which is
important when cutting threads. The automatic feed offers .002" and
.004" (0.05 and 0.1mm) per revolution. The tailstock spindle has a
MT 1 (short) bore and 1 3/16" (30mm) travel. The 110 - 120V motor
(1/5hp) is fitted with a forward/reverse switch. The three jaw
chuck offers 5/64" to 1 3/8" (2 - 35mm) clamping capacity (internal
jaws) and 3/32" to 2 43/64" (24 - 68mm) (external jaws). The
practical hand wheels are fitted with zero adjustable scales. One
revolution equals .004" (1mm) feed (20 divisions) and hence
.002"/division (0.05mm). Weight approx. 30 lb and dimensions
approx. 21" x 9.8" x 5.9".
