Sherline Lever Collet Closer
This new accessory saves a lot of time when holding parts into a WW collet. It is perfect for anyone doing repetitive lathe operations on small parts. It loosens and retightens the drawbar each time you insert a part. This closer allows you to make that adjustment just one time. After that, you can release and retighten the collet by simply pushing a lever back and forth. Moving the lever to the right releases the part from the collet. Then you can insert a new part and move the lever back to the left to lock the part in the collet. Hardened steel components assure long life.
You can hold long stock up to 3/16″ in diameter through the WW collets and spindle. The face of the collet will hold larger parts up to 5/16″ or 8mm. Collet pot chucks are available for even larger parts up to 1″ diameter.
Easy Installation…
The new collet closer is easy to install on a Sherline lathe with no holes to drill. It simply clamps to the leadscrew support by tightening two 10-32 screws in the split base, and a single 4-40 socket head screw secures the upper part to a pre-existing hole in the headstock spindle. The closer includes a self-tapping 4-40 screw to tap this hole, although it may already be threaded if you have used a P/N 3100 threading attachment on the lathe in the past. A collet adapter with a registration pin is included that engages in the keyway of the WW collet to keep it from turning in the adapter. 3/32″ and 5/32″ hex keys are also included.
